Emerging Technology Forum Water Crisis: Investment Opportunities and Emerging Technologies April 17, 2008 | 6:00-9:00 PM | 950 Page Mill Road | Palo Alto Your Host: Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati
Water scarcity. It's not just a pressing problem for the western regions of United States. This past year, Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and Atlanta faced critical shortages of drinking water. Scarcity, further impacted by climate change, is now both a local and global issue. Exacerbating the dilemma within the US and throughout Europe is the aging and highly centralized water infrastructure which has not been modernized in decades. In addition, the water industry is one of the least competitive and receptive to innovative processes and technologies.. This sluggish scenario is soon likely to change. Strong evidence from the past two years indicate that increasing scarcity of drinking water in reservoirs and aquifers is forcing cities, counties and countries to rethink policies and technology upgrades. Will a variety of innovative water technologies finally attract the attention they deserve in the marketplace? Join us for a provocative panel discussion that examines some of these innovations and probes the challenges, risks and rewards of the investment opportunities in the domestic and international markets.
